Psychological support for men

Currently, almost all requests for psychological counseling come from women, although during the war both sexes are under stress.

This is primarily due to the fact that men are less attentive to themselves, they have certain attitudes, it is more difficult for them to emotionally break and demonstrate their vulnerability, so they are less likely to come to consult psychologists.

Men have fewer opportunities to vary their behavior (their roles are defined more clearly), they tend to show autonomy, focused on demonstrating strength. But during the war, it is men who feel the greatest psychological pressure.

Psychological counseling depending on gender is very different. Men are more focused on cognitive processes (mental) rather than emotional ones, so they are less sensitive to their problems, to their condition. They are looking for security in their independence, trying to overcome their psychological contradictions in a rational way.

The behavior of men in a counseling situation is different from the behavior of women. For women, the important thing is how they talked to them, they were listened to. Male clients, on the contrary, can be restrained and silent, minimize their activities, imitate the behavior expected from them.

Men more often than women refuse psychological help and resort to it only in a situation of crisis, but work harder than women.

It should be understood that the disclosure of sensitivity only helps, enriches the personality and harmonizes it. There is no contradiction in listening to your emotional experiences and at the same time remaining rational and consistent. In consultation with a psychologist, social skills are being improved, new, more productive strategies of behavior are being formed.
